Irrigation & water management

An irrigation system should respond to the garden as it is: its planting, exposure and changes in level. We work on new installations, renovation and fault finding, with attention to the organisation of watering zones and adjustments through the seasons.

Design around the garden

Available pressure, flow and distances help determine the network design. Zones are considered according to planting and exposure, so that substantially different needs are not grouped together. Drip lines, micro-irrigation, spray heads or sprinklers are selected for the areas concerned. Ideally, planning for the main network takes place alongside ground preparation and the planting design.

Understand before replacing

A dry patch, unusual consumption or a zone that remains open can have several causes. Checks may cover pipes, connections, filters, nozzles, valves, wiring and controllers. The condition of the existing system guides any proposed repair or renovation. The aim is to distinguish a local fault from a layout problem that calls for more extensive work.

Keep settings in step with the seasons

Water requirements change with the seasons and as plants become established. Timing, duration and distribution should remain consistent with weather, soil and local water-use restrictions. Checking for leaks and observing how plants respond complement the controller settings. A specific saving cannot be stated without understanding the starting point and the conditions of the particular garden.

The essentials.
Clearly explained.

Can an existing irrigation system be improved?+

Yes. An inspection can identify what can be retained and where changes would help, including nozzles, emitters, programming, valves or the organisation of zones.

Is drip irrigation suitable for the entire garden?+

It can suit many planting beds and containers, but the choice depends on plants, surface areas, soil and layout. Different requirements may call for separate zones.
