Define the purpose of the work
Pruning responds to a particular need: guiding growth, clearing a route or addressing damaged parts. The species, visible condition and nearby structures inform the assessment. A photograph can help prepare an initial conversation, but it does not replace an examination of the tree and its surroundings where a decision involves a question of safety.
